For Nicole Gaulin, MD, the newest member of the gynecologic oncology team at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, the ability to treat patients throughout their disease played an important role in choosing her career path.
“There are so many new advances, particularly in therapeutics, as it relates to all the gynecologic cancers. There are new trials being published all the time and there are also a lot of advances in surgical techniques and modalities which allow for fewer risks and better outcomes,” she says.
It’s the opportunity for patients to have access to designated cancer experts in addition to clinical trials and support services, including a sexual health clinic and fertility services, that Dr. Gaulin says sets Roswell Park aside and part of what drew her to join the team here. “This comprehensive approach that really ties in all the different aspects of a patient’s life in order to really treat them on a very personalized level is one of the big reasons why I came here,” she says.
